Minster Lifeline 7/2025

This week Revd. Irene writes:

Over the past couple of years we have developed a friendship with the Dialogue Group from Hull.

The Dialogue Society ‘aim to advance social cohesion by connecting communities, empowering people to engage and contributing to the development of ideas on dialogue and community building.’

In December last year Jon Major and I were delighted to be asked to the Christmas Community Dinner – the theme being peace and unity.

Last year the group hosted a Ramadan Iftar Dinner in the Minster and have asked to do the same this year. The Iftar meal is the breaking of the fast after sundown, often celebrated as a big communal meal.

The meal this year will be held on Monday 10th March 5:30 p.m. – 7-30 p.m.  Please do try to come along to this as last year there were very few from the Minster at the meal. It is a lovely social early evening with entertainment and delicious food all prepared and delivered by the Dialogue Society.

In a world that is troubled it is good to come together from different cultures and faiths to celebrate all that is good.

Ephesians 4:2: Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

BRICK CHURCH

This will be on the first Saturday of every month.  Kids (and probably more so, parents) will love it!

 SAILORS’ SERVICE

The Sailors’ Service is an annual event where we celebrate the maritime history of Kingston upon Hull and those men and women from the city who have worked at sea.   Each year we highlight a particular Service and this year it is those who have worked in the Merchant fleet.   All are welcome to attend to give thanks to the city’s sailors.  There is no charge. We work on the donation system. Thank you for any donation.

GIRLS BRIGADE

We celebrated our Bring a friend night with a valentine's friendship party. Our young leader Imy helped to plan and deliver the games, crafts, and devotions. She also decorated the church with some lovely decorations. 14 girls attended in total, all of them had brought a friend which was amazing and there was lots of excitement in the air. Last week our girls made at least 2 clay bowls, 1 for them and 1 for their friend which they gave and painted this week. It was lovely thoughtful activity which they all enjoyed. Everyone ended up with something unique to take home to symbolise their friendship.  Imy led us in devotions and spoke about love and the 2 St Valentines. This linked in nice with the end of our badgework on N:Gage Love, N:Counta Relationships, N:Spire Love as we spoke about the wonderful love we have for our friends and God's unconditional love. Everyone went home with a smile on their face, and I hope and pray that they will come back. Thank you for this opportunity, to host a wonderful party for our group. Well, done to Imy, all our girls who brought a friend and the lovely friends that came. We all had a great time.

AND THOSE ANGELS?

We were up to 227 angels on Thursday, please keep them coming! We still await our wonderful Verger's creation.
