Music at Hull Minster: Our vision for the next generation
This church (and the region that it serves) has an incredibly rich history of singing. Our ambition is to stimulate a thriving and energetic culture of high-quality singing in Hull and the surrounding area.
Our mission: to establish Hull Minster as a centre of excellence for the Anglican Music Tradition and organ music.
Our vision: to encourage as many young people as possible to develop their aptitude for singing and their love of music, nurturing their development within a ten-year education programme, and helping them to achieve a nationally recognised standard of musicianship.
We strongly believe that being part of a thriving choir, with fine choral music at its core, will develop and stretch the abilities of young people in ways that are not widely available.
We know that being part of a good choir brings very tangible benefits to the participants, and that the processes of learning to read/sing music have considerable impacts in terms of wider education.
Choirs provide the opportunity to learn from others, develop new skills within the safety of a larger group, enjoy the processes of learning and performing successfully, and gain a very genuine sense of community and team-spirit.
In summary: being part of a choir can significantly benefit physical, mental and emotional health.
And…it’s fun too!
