The Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults is central to our core faith and an integral feature of our Christian life within Hull Minster.

Hull Minster is committed to:

  • Promoting a safer environment and culture.

  • Safely recruiting and supporting all those with any responsibility related to children, young people and vulnerable adults within the church.

  • Responding promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation.

  • Caring pastorally for victims/survivors of abuse and other affected persons.

  • Caring pastorally for those who are the subject of concerns or allegations of abuse and other affected persons.

  • Responding to those that may pose a present risk to others.

Social Media

At Hull Minster we believe that Social Media is important to our opportunities to share, interact and socialise with others. We believe that it is an important tool which can be used to help us in our mission and growth. We are committed to the safe practice of social media and have signed up to the Church of England Digital Charter which demonstrates our commitment to safe practice. We adhere to the Church of England Social Media Guidelines and if you have any concerns about social media usage, please contact our safeguarding officer below.

If you have concerns

If you have a concern about an individual’s physical, sexual or emotional well-being, please report it to our Safeguarding Officer or to the York Diocese Safeguarding Officer. We will deal with all matters confidentially and we will only inform any relevant external bodies such as the police or social services if required to protect those who are vulnerable from harm.

Our Safeguarding Policy is also displayed within the Minster and this sets out in more detail about what our procedure is.
