Our theme yesterday was Jesus asking the disciples ‘who do YOU say I am’? As our study groups begin again in September that may be a question that will come up in the many conversations. If we are not sure how to answer this question you may find it helpful to be part of one of our groups where you can discuss or just listen to what others have to say.

When Peter answered “Jesus”, it was a turning point in his life, the Holy Spirit working in him to reveal that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God. Peter didn’t live a perfect life from that moment, far from it at times. He denied Jesus in his time of need, but he went on to share the Jesus message with thousands of people and helped the church become what it is today.

If you’re not sure who Jesus is then give one of our groups a try, then the decision is up to you!

Couldn’t resist sharing this picture with you. As you will have seen in last week’s Lifeline Gill has knitted twenty-eight teddies so far and on Sunday, she appeared with this one! You may notice this teddy is wearing a patch over one eye – this will be me on Wednesday however the patch very easily can be removed!!

Thanks, Gill, for all the time and effort you have put into producing such an abundance of ‘teddies’!

BE PREPARED – SEPTEMBER STUDIES, ALPHA AND START

WELCOME CAFÉ (from strangers to friends) & LISTENING SPACE

Welcome café last week was in the first week of the school summer holidays and we had lots of families visiting, enjoying the heritage activities but also the giant Jenga! It stood out how many people said they did not know the Minster had so much to offer families and they almost universally used the word ‘Welcome’ in their description of their experience. One lovely lady said she felt as she entered the Minster she was wrapped in a blanket of welcome. What a lovely image. Our wonderful welcomers make it so easy to come through the door and the Welcome Café adds so much to the service a Minster is intended to offer. I realise I have used the word ‘welcome’ a lot, but I promise you it is the right word to use! Please come and join us on any Thursday between 10.30am and 3pm for coffee, tea and a warm Welcome. Soup served from 12ish.

From 12:30 soup will be served and drinks throughout the afternoon until 3 p.m.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

It is great to have ReNew and Hull City Council present during our Welcome Café held every Thursday in the Minster. These groups are there to help anyone with concerns or queries.

I must emphasise that this is available in the same way the Welcome Cafe and Listening Space are: to absolutely everyone. That means you, your friends, family members, and even those who walk into the church for the very first time.

If you have any questions about either of these two organisations, or how you could be part of the Welcome Cafe and Listening Space team, please don’t hesitate to ask either Rev Irene or Tim.

WEDNESDAY is when teddy bears will be out in abundance. If you want to meet them, come along to Hull Minster and join in the fun or lend a helping hand.

LITTLE FISHES

Little Fishes are having a lovely summer. We have met in some capacity for all of the

holidays from various park visits, Dino Day, and Honeysuckle Farm. It has been a lovely summer so far and a lifeline for families to meet and support each other. Several families have joined in events provided by the Minster, like Scrapstore and Messy Church and we are looking forward to the Teddy Bears' Picnic on Wednesday 30th August! The holidays can seem long but with friendship as our focus it has been lovely.

Thirteen families went to Honeysuckle Farm on 11th August, it was a great chance to see, feed and interact the animals, play on hay bales and outdoor equipment, get lost in the maze, share lunch and be together. The goats naturally loved getting fed and some of our children were really brave to feed them (some of the goats even bigger than them!) Many of the children fed the massive fish along with a few ducks. Everyone had a fun time exploring the environment.

We are looking forward to meeting in the park on Friday and Williams Den at the end of summer holidays.

GREAT CELEBRATION FOR UKRANIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY

Many people are enquiring how Jane is after being taken ill just over a week ago. Although she is still very poorly, there are signs of progress. If you wish to send Jane a card please b ring into the Minster and they will be delivered to her home address.

There is only family visiting at the moment. We will update you each week in Lifeline.

Please continue to pray for Jane and her family.
