Alleluia Christ is risen!
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Wishing you every grace and blessing in this holy season of Easter.
The Church celebrates Easter not for a single day, but for fifty days, just as we have observed the forty days of Lent. This sacred season invites us to live more deeply the joy of the Resurrection and to renew our faith in the risen Lord.
We give thanks to God that at the Easter Vigil we welcomed two adults into full communion with the Church through the Sacrament of Baptism, and that ten others were strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation, conferred by the Bishop of Hull. These are powerful signs of God at work in our community.
It was also a great encouragement to see so many participate in the Maundy Thursday and Good Friday Liturgies entering deeply into the Paschal Mystery of the Lord’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
In a world often marked by suffering and uncertainty, Easter proclaims with certainty that Christ has conquered sin and death. The light of the Resurrection cannot be overcome. As an Easter people, may we bear witness to this truth with lives renewed in hope, charity, and faith.
May you know his life and hope in your lives this Eastertide
In Christ our Risen Lord,
Canon Dominic Black

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry was started at Hull Minster in 2015 by Stella Barnes and the Revd Irene Wilson. Like many other activities, it faltered during Covid and we are now renewing our efforts to make it flourish again.
The aim of this ministry is to donate, on behalf of the church, a hand crafted shawl or scarf to any person we know who is going through a difficult time, such as illness, bereavement, unemployment, as well as at times of celebration
such as the birth of a baby or a young person leaving home to study or take up a new job.
The recipient of a shawl or scarf does not need to be a member of our church family; you may know of a relative, neighbour or friend who would appreciate receiving a thoughtful gift,. knowing that the person who created it did so with prayer. Each shawl or scarf will be blessed by a member of the clergy before being delivered.
To keep this ministry going, we need to be made aware of any person who is needing the comfort of a kind gesture, so please contact Therese, Julia or Rev Rob with the relevant information.
We also need volunteers to knit or crochet these gifts(to their own pattern). The knitter can either donate the cost of the wool or payment will be available. We will be very grateful for any donations towards the cost of materials.
Please keep in your thoughts and prayers those who receive a scarf or shawl as well as those who give their skill and prayers to bring comfort to others.

History & Hysteria with our Girls Brigade (written by James Cameron, Heritage Manager)
This month just gone, we debuted a programme of heritage activities, workshops and games with our Girls Brigade as part of their badgework.
The badgework last month, titled ‘resilience’, focused on identity, resistance to change, and perseverance against adversity: something our 600 year-old Minster knows all too well!
Our Girls Brigade engaged in all sorts of activities, from designing their own shields and Coats of Arms, to scavenger hunts around the Minster, hunting for the Minster’s many mice, and even got to ring one of our bells!
I (the Heritage Manager) led 4 of the 5 weeks of our Resilience Badgework programme, and if I must be honest, my favourite part of the whole thing was just seeing the girls rediscover the Minster and sort of ‘play along’ with the different parts of the church, from climbing the lectern and giving short sermons to their friends, to trying to find their favorite animals carved into the pews and monuments of the church.
While I might be biased in saying that my programme was awesome, the Girls Brigade is active throughout the year, and has so many great activities to take part in. They are always welcome to new members (they were certainly very accommodating to little old me!) so if you know anybody who might be interested, please contact our office at office@hullminster.org and they will let you know how to get involved!

💚 A WONDERFUL MUSTARD SEED GATHERING IN HULL
💚 It was great to gather with some of the Community Ministers across Hull in April. We shared stories of mission and faith-sharing, experienced Soulspace and prayed together. Huge thanks to Becky for the delicious cakes and to Ann for hosting us at Hull Minster so well. #DioceseofYork #Heart4Hull #HullDeanery #mustardseed
