Hull’s historic Trinity House charity is supporting Hull Minster’s exciting future, building on links going back almost 700 years.
The seafaring charity has sponsored more than two dozen chairs to support Hull Minster’s development project which is transforming the church into an open and flexible space for worship and a wide range of cultural, social and community events.
Work has begun on the internal transformation of Hull’s iconic Holy Trinity Church in the most significant changes to the majestic building since Victorian times.
Contractors began dismantling and removing pews today (February 13) as part of a major re-ordering of the nave, to create a flexible, open space for more inclusive worship as well as a wide range of cultural, social and community events.
The works form part of a wide-ranging programme of improvements including underfloor heating, new limestone flooring, lighting, toilets and other facilities, as well as a new glazed entrance to encourage visitors in from the newly-revamped Trinity Square.

The Prince of Wales inspired clergy, church staff, volunteers and members of the congregation during a wonderful visit to Hull’s historic Holy Trinity Church.
His Royal Highness was greeted by the Vicar of Holy Trinity, the Reverend Canon Dr Neal Barnes, and Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding, Susan Cunliffe-Lister, as he arrived at the church as part of his much-anticipated visit to celebrate Hull’s year as UK City of Culture.
