Once again between November 3rd and 29th we welcome Martin Waters poppy installation and he writes:-

This year I wanted to think about the men and women who died at sea. The Royal Navy. The Merchant Navy. Trawlermen who served their country from Hull and other ports. The men and women travelling from one war zone to another and were attacked and sunk on route. The artwork suggests the idea of drowning, perhaps at sea, but it very well could be drowning and suffocating in the mud and gas of the first world war.
This made more poignant as it is 100 years since the use of gas in the First World War.

The Vicar of Hull’s historic Holy Trinity Church today (September 29) paid tribute to the local businessman who is bringing music legend Rod Stewart to Hull and thanked him for nominating the church’s transformation project to benefit from the show.

The Rev Canon Dr Neal Barnes has written to MKM Executive Chairman David Kilburn congratulating him on his “coup” in securing the star’s performance at the KC Stadium next year.

Dr Barnes told Mr Kilburn everyone at Holy Trinity had been “bowled over” by his generosity in donating the event’s proceeds to Holy Trinity’s development project and Hull’s Daisy Appeal.

This last summer I have had the privilege of study leave. I spent a couple of weeks of it in Liverpool, meeting many different people and finding out what difference that city had experienced in and since 2008 when Liverpool was the European Capital of Culture. It became obvious that it has had a major impact, and this gives me hope for Hull in 2017. I especially wanted to find out how churches had engaged and used their Capital of Culture to bless their communities and share something of the love of God, and the richness of the creative gifts that he gives to us.

The Revd Canon Alison White was priest-in-charge of Riding Mill in the Diocese of Newcastle and Diocesan Adviser for Spirituality and Spiritual Direction. As Bishop of Hull, Alison will also have diocesan-wide responsibilities both as Ambassador for Prayer, Spiritual & Numerical Growth and Ambassador for Urban Life & Faith.

An Aston Martin, an E-Type Jaguar, and a Daimler will be among the spectacular vehicles on show outside Holy Trinity Church for its annual car show.

 The eye-catching event in Trinity Square on Monday, August 10th at 7pm, will bring together classic motors and super cars of all types and descriptions.

Organised by the church's men's group, it will also include informative talks from the vehicle owners, opportunities to get behind the wheel for photos and refreshments.

England’s largest parish church will provide a unique setting for Tubular Bells For Two, a ground-breaking reworking by just two musicians of Mike Oldfield's multi-layered, 20-instrument masterpiece.

Australian musicians Daniel Holdsworth and Aidan Roberts will perform Oldfield's seminal album - originally recorded in 1973 and the first release on Richard Branson’s Virgin record label - faithfully recreating the masterpiece in real time as they leap around the stage using more than 20 instruments.

The Vicar of historic Holy Trinity Church has thanked planning committee members for backing the transformation of Hull’s most amazing place.

 Hull City Council’s Planning Committee today granted full consent, with relatively minor conditions, for external changes to the Grade 1 listed building in the heart of Hull’s Old Town.

The changes are part of a £4.5m transformation of the magnificent building and its grounds to enable Holy Trinity, England’s largest parish church and one of Hull’s oldest surviving buildings, to replace outdated and inadequate facilities, become much more accessible to the community and host a wider range of cultural and social events.
