Minster Lifeline 30/2025

THIS WEEK REVD. IRENE WRITES:

I’m sure we will all have noticed the days are growing shorter and the air has that crisp feel to it, of course we gently move into the season of autumn—a season where we celebrate harvest, and quiet beauty. The changing leaves remind us of God in creation, painting the world in beautiful shades of gold, amber, and crimson.

Just as farmers bring in the crops, we too are called to harvest the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, and kindness—and offer them back to God in thanksgiving. This season reminds us that gratitude is not just a feeling, but a practice. It’s found in the sharing of meals, the warmth of fellowship, and the quiet moments of prayer.

On Sunday, the 14th our services will have a harvest feel to them, 9:30, 11 a.m. and a Sea, Field, and Factory civic celebration at 2 p.m. If you are able to, do join in one or more of our celebrations where we give thanks for all that is good remembering the labours of those at sea, in our fields and in our factories.

May we enjoy this season and find joy in its colour. Let us walk together into autumn, trusting in God’s presence in every falling leaf and every cool breeze.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1

ANIMAL BLESSING SERVICE

REQUEST FROM OUR FLOWER LADY

We are heading for another festival in church, but this one might be my favourite when it comes to flower arrangements.  At harvest festival you use such lovely deep colours.

So, I'm looking for some greenery to help with the cost again: Leylandii, Choisya, Eucalyptus, cotinus, hypericum berries, sedum, gourds and phormium would be grateful received.  The longer the stems the better.

I will be collecting it in church on Wednesday 10th September from 10:00 until 12 noon.   Fiona

Trypraying Launch, 11th Septembeer

Thursday 11th September 6-7 p.m. (refreshments served from 5.45 p.m.)

Venue: Hull Minster
Join us in this time of prayer as we mark the start of the citywide Trypraying initiative in Hull.

There is a great opportunity in September for churches across this region to invite people to try praying . The invitation is for those who don't do church and who don't think of themselves as religious! The bus campaign starts on the back of buses from 1st and sides  from 8th September.

Thanks, Heather
