Hopefully I have not missed any one. If you have content for lifeline please get it to me by the start of the last week of the month. I will aim to distribute in the last week of the month.
There is a date for the diary. In order to open up more calendar space, Hull Minster will open on Mondays from 23rd Feb 26.
I am also aware that there is a planned relaunch of Minster Crafters so watch this space in the next few weeks.
The architect and stone mason are on site today so we will know soon, whether we can reopen.

Pinnacle not finial
The Humberside Fire and Rescue, Hull Civic, Humberside Police, Hull City Council Traffic Management and Trinity Market have supported us on 24th Jan 26 after a member of the public spotted an unstable finial on north church side lower roof. The top section has been taken down but as a precaution the church and car park will remain closed on Tuesday 27th Jan 26.
Our café is unaffected and will be open as usual 10am-3pm.
Our architect and stonemason have arrived on Tuesday 27th Jan to assess.
Thank you to the member of the public and services who attended so quickly.

The Society usually meets on the Second Thursday of the month at 7pm in the Hull Minster cafe.

Rev. Irene Wilson
After sixteen years of faithful and much-valued ministry here at Hull Minster, Rev. Irene Wilson has discerned that it is the right time to begin a new chapter in her Ministry.
She sends her love and has said that she has been deeply grateful for the love, encouragement, and support she has received from so many in the congregation and wider community and wishes you all well.
At the end of the month Rev. Irene will be transferring her Permission to Officiate to serve alongside Rev. Becky Allright in the benefice of Brough, Elloughton, and Brantingham where she looks forward to continuing her ministry in a new role.
We give thanks for Irene’s long and faithful service and wish her every blessing as she moves into this next stage of her ministry.
Rob Carlisle has a card for Irene and will be collecting donations for a gift for her.

First one Sold Out
We launched a new tour to bring funds into church. Dave Elgey has led the creation of this tour and is busy building a band of volunteers who will run it. Thank you all.
Girls Brigade
Our leader is on maternity leave after giving birth to a beautiful boy just before Christmas and we have gratefully received funding from the Grammar School Trust to run an Arting Workshop in her absence.
Alison from Arting has been running craft sessions with the girls based on their Spring badgework. On the first week they worked on signs of spring learning water colour techniques to paint spring flowers. The second week was based on caring for creation, talking about how birds contribute and making clay birds from air dry clay.
Car Park update
The car park is now beginning to bring in much needed income to sustain the mission and ministry of Hull Minster. Please can staff and volunteers avoid parking there all day, Becky is working on a solution for staff and volunteers to park using the £2.50 APCOA code.

Bible Studies
From Wednesday January 21st, 2026 at 7.30pm for an hour, each week we will be studying the book of Colossians from the New Testament. All are welcome to join: please send an email to onlinebiblestudy@hullminster.org which will be forwarded to the organisers, they will send you a reply inviting you to a "digitalsamba" meeting for each occasion we meet. (That is the software system we are trialling having had successful tests)

Unfortunately Welcome Café has had to be cancelled due to the ongoing issues with our roof.

Alma has found her forever home with our volunteer Marion.
We were all sad to loose her but she is much happier in a family home.
Being a church cat is a tough job! Alma was too gentle and lovely.
Our successful church cat candidate will need to be more of a Rum Tum Tugger!

Steph & Rob’s Wedding
Lauren & her gang deliver some great events but I have been impressed by two smashing ones in January. The Sewell Awards Ceremony is the closing photograph and a beautiful wedding and full reception on 3rd Jan 26.
