Everyday Faith in 2026
Happy New Year to you all!
I hope you enjoy our photograph of Olga and Bishop Eleanor having a cosy chat at Nine Lessons. Thank you to Ellie who captured this special moment.
As the twelve days of Christmas draw to a close with our Epiphany service on Tuesday 6 January, we begin to settle once again into the familiar rhythms of daily life. It’s back to school, back to work, and back to the regular activities of Hull Minster — the patterns and routines that shape our everyday weeks.
At Christmas we celebrate the wonderful gift of Jesus, the Light of the world. Yet we know that this gift is not just for Christmas. Like many New Year’s resolutions, our intentions can be sincere and hopeful, but as the weeks pass it can be easy to lose focus and find ourselves struggling to carry the Light of Christ into the ordinary moments of our lives.
As we begin a new year, the Church of England offers a helpful gift to support us in this — Everyday Faith, a new daily devotional app designed to inspire, equip, and encourage Christians in their faith throughout the year.
Easy to download and simple to use, the app helps you develop a daily connection with God. Each day includes a short Bible reading, a thoughtful reflection, and a simple prayer to help prepare you for the day ahead. Whether you already have an established prayer routine or are looking to begin one for the first time, Everyday Faith offers a gentle and accessible way to place God at the heart of everyday life.
So, if you don’t yet have a regular pattern of daily prayer, may I encourage you to begin 2026 with Everyday Faith and see how God works in you and through you over the coming year. Small, faithful steps each day can make a real difference.
Everyday Faith is free to download, and you can find out more here:

With every blessing for the year ahead,
Dominic
Grants Success - Update from Heather Black
We’re delighted that over recent weeks we have received positive news about several grants that will support the mission of Hull Minster. We want to share the good news and acknowledge the support of the following grant making trusts:
· The Ann Watson Trust for £5,000 towards our work with children, young people and families (as well as their on -going support for Choral Hull).
· The Hull and East Riding Charitable Trust for £2,500 and the James Reckitt Charity for £5,000 towards the Welcome Café
Hull Minster was also featured in the 2025 Annual Report of the Garfield Weston Foundation. The Foundation has generously given a grant of £25,000 per year for 2025 and 2026. This is what the foundation said:
The Trustees appreciated the wide range of local partnerships the Minster has developed to ensure it is reaching those most in need and its clear fundraising plan to meet the costs of its outreach work, giving them confidence to make a grant of £50,000 over two years.
It is encouraging to see this support for Hull Minster from local and national trusts, an essential part of our funding for mission.

I aim to create a monthly issue as a minimum, likely distributed in the last week of each month. Content, stories and photographs can be sent to me please. I get lots of messages that people enjoy Lifeline so do please share your news. All the best. Becky
PS I have no idea why the first letter of the heading is being hidden on some browsers. I will work it out eventually.
