Do you remember a couple of months ago I talked about a charity called TWAM – Tools with a Mission. Since putting the information in Lifeline, we have managed to collect a huge amount of tools all ready to be refurbished. Husband Ian has delivered all that we collected to a base in Barton on Humber and from there they will be taken to Milton Keynes for the cleaning up and repair work to be done then finally shipped to Africa to provide tool kits for young people who are learning a trade such as a carpenter or electrician. This is such a great charity so please pass the word around we are always willing to collect.

EXCITING JUNIOR CHURCH!!
No exciting pictures this week as our young choristers had a holiday for half term. Well deserved! They will be back with us next week.
PILGRIM COURSE: TURNING TO CHRIST
What do Christians believe? Turning to Christ explores the heart of Christian belief through the six questions asked at baptism. Wednesday evenings in Lent at 7:00 pm from Ash Wednesday 22nd February.
START COURSE
Start Course: Thursdays in Lent 11:30 a.m. from 23rd February.
Got questions about life and the Christian faith? If you’re looking for answers then maybe it’s time to make a Start. Normally run in groups of about six to ten people, each session involves video clips, exercises, group discussion, and time for reflection. Each session lasts about an hour and is free to attend. - What’s life all about and where are we going? - Does God exist and what is He like? - Why is the world in such a mess? - Who was Jesus, and is He relevant? - What does Jesus’ death on the cross mean for me today? - How far can I go forward with God in my life? ‘Start’ will help you discover more about God, Jesus, and the journey of life.
BIBLE STUDY
This takes place, on Zoom, every Wednesday at 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. We will be studying Daniel this week but then we move into six weeks of study on Lent when different people in the groups will bring their own reflections on a particular aspect of interest to them. We will return to the study of Daniel after Easter.
WARM/LISTENING SPACE - see the important changes that are taking place
The 'Warm Space' provision has been in operation since early October, every Thursday. The take-up has been low in number, but we are not deterred. It is the quality of the interaction that matters.
After much thought and discussion, it was our intention that the provision be known as ‘Listening Space’, simply because that’s what we do. Listen. During the morning this will run alongside the ‘welcome café’ making sure there will always be the opportunity for a quiet space or a one-to-one chat if needed.
There's still the offering of tea, coffee and biscuits and, across lunch time, home-made soup.
However, from 2nd March it will be known as:
WELCOME CAFÉ (from strangers to friends)
You will see from the notice below that Thursday morning will become the Welcome Café from the 2nd March. Please do drop in and support whenever you can.

GRIEF AWARENESS CAFE
Three of the ladies from the Grief Café last week where we were delighted that Tony NHS Chaplain joined us in the hope that he can start something similar at HRI. New people are turning up each month and finding comfort and friendship as they share refreshments together.
MINSTER PRAISE
This will be held on Thursday 16th at 10:30. Everyone is welcome to this short informal service followed by cakes and coffee/tea

Thank you to everyone at Hull Minster for all the gifts, cards and good wishes on the occasion of my 85th Birthday and “retirement” last weekend. Val, as ever, produced a lovely cake, despite feeling poorly, which was enjoyed by everyone after the service. The unexpected flowers were much appreciated by Julia.
STEPPING UP
GROWING NEW DISCIPLES IN PLACES WHERE
LIFE IS TOUGH.
A new Stepping Up learning Community will be starting in Hull after Easter.
Stepping Up provides an opportunity for lay people to come together once a week with people from other parishes in Hull to grow together as disciples of Jesus, and explore how to develop mission in their local community.
Over forty people have now completed Stepping Up in the urban and coastal communities of our York Diocese. They are involved in mission in their church and community in many different ways, and witnessing their churches grow as they share God’s love in the local community. Hilda’s Heirs! Wow it is great to have an event celebrating women in faith at the Minster!
Hilda’s Heirs 11th March 2023 10:30-3:30pm
“Hilda’s Heirs is a fun day of activities celebrating women and girls in mission and ministry. It is based at Hull Minster but includes an optional treasure hunt around the city.
Children and young people are invited to attend with leaders from their groups or their family. Activities include: brass rubbing, designing stained glass windows and a Minster Mystery Trail.
The day will start with a short worship service and end with a communion led by Bishop Eleanor of Hull and Leslie Newton (Chair of the Methodist District). During the day there will be a variety of activities and crafts on offer. A soup and sandwich lunch will be provided by the Hull Minster Cafe.
We are asking for contributions of £5 per head (£15 per family) towards food and resources, but please get in touch with carolyn.edwards@yorkdiocese.org or victoria@methodistyouth.org.uk if you need to discuss a bursary”.

I am so excited to be taking part in this event which has been organised by the York Diocese. It is great to run a group for girls and be able to celebrate how amazing women are and how we can work together to learn more about God, our faith and share with others the amazing things he did for us. It is great for our girls and families to see how faith works through different people at different stages in their journey.
