Heritage Open Days 10th to 13th September 2015
We are delighted to announce that Holy Trinity Church will be participating in Heritage Open Days with an exciting programme of activities suitable for all ages. This year Holy Trinity Church celebrates 490 years since its final consecration with a collection of historical material from the archives, interpreted and coordinated by Peter Lord. The present building is the third church on the site, founded in 1285 with the last of the building work consecrated in 1425.
Every day family visitors can enjoy one of several activity trails which lead them around the church finding objects and artefacts and of course, our famous mice.
“Trinny Teas” will provide wonderful home-made cakes and refreshments from traditional Victoria sandwich to light and airy homemade scones. Soft drinks and hot drinks will also be available.
Friday morning sees the return of Hull’s famous writer, Val Wood, who sets many of her works in the Old Town area and docks. Val will be talking about her work and reading from her most recent novel. Tickets for this event can be booked through holytrinityhull.com
The Old Town Through the Ages Event will take place on Saturday 12th September. A huge range of medieval stalls, demonstrations of heritage stonemasonry, and medieval characters will be performing in Trinity Square with an opening celebration at 11.30am followed by fire-eating, town criers and a host of medieval themed stalls. Come along, enjoy the fun.
Guided tours of the Church are available throughout the weekend and can also be booked in advance through our website. Once again our tower will be available for tours on Saturday and Sunday, tickets can be purchased on the day for these. Take in the breath-taking views of Hull’s dockside and Old Town.
During the weekend there will be a painting exhibition by resident artist Julia Allum. Julia has been painting the Holy Trinity Christmas card for 5 years and hosts regular artist’s days where painting can be carried out in the peace and perfect tranquillity of the church.
