The Story of the Minster
New to 2019, a 60-minute tour of Hull Minster, touch on its history within Hull and the nation’s last 700 years.
Some say the history of the city of Hull is written on the walls of Hull Minster. With links to famous fathers of Hull’s industrial and fishing heritage, the Minster has played its part in local and national events. From the charter of 1299 given by Edward I to form the city of Kingston upon Hull from Monks of Meaux Abbey, just north Hull of the city, to the events that kickstarted the English Revolution, Hull Minster has witnessed it all. These stories are retold by our tour guides as you walk through the Minster and the history of Hull.
Famous fathers, William Wilberforce, the Maister family and many more have associations with Hull Minster which have had far reaching influences in the world today.
From 7th March 2019 we will starting regular tours of the Minster with John Lawson. Places are limited to ensure you get the most from your time with us.
Thursday and Saturdays thoughout March, April and May. Tours are at 11am and cost £5. All funds raised go to the maintenance of Hull Minster.
