Cross Art

The cross is a world renowned iconic symbol. This project aims to include those of all faiths and diverse backgrounds who are looking to express their artistic feelings. 
The cross above all is recognised as a Christian symbol.  This project however aims to include not only Christians but also those of other faiths and diverse walks of life, who are looking to express their artistic feelings through this iconic symbol.
Cross Art will be created by nine different artists and three groups and will consist of fourteen crosses
They will be displayed at various locations across the City of Hull and into the East Riding.
The exhibitions will start at Hull Minster on Monday 13th August 2018
The aim of the Cross Art project is to use the symbol of the cross to enable a diverse group of individual artists and group’s to illustrate and demonstrate their individual beliefs, culture, feelings and emotions through this iconic medium. 
It will hopefully attract a new audience of people into the exhibitions, to view a different aspect of art and culture, and enable marginalised people to have an outlet for their views.
The artists involved are; Dave Rowe, Sue Rowe, Mary Credland, Jean Ripon, Sally Ripon, Graham Bolton, Ruth Bryan-Smith, Claire Bryan –Smith, John Hallem, Janet Blades.
The Groups involved are ; Chatty Crafts Anlaby Common, Open Doors Hull. International House Hull.
