World class acoustic guitarist set to bring unique musical experience to Hull Minster
He has toured the world with his unique acoustic guitar talent while capturing the admiration of over 100 million music fans online.
Now, Luca Stricagnoli is heading back to Hull for a third time in as many years to captivate an audience in the stunning venue of Hull Minster on October 9th, playing up to five guitars in one song.
The Italian-born musical innovator will be joined by his singer, songwriter and musician girlfriend, Meg Pfeiffer, uniting on the stage for a night of pure musical talent.
The pair are making an appearance in Hull as part of Luca’s What If? World Tour, spanning more than 10 countries across Europe, Asia, North America and South America.
Luca, who has played guitar since the age of 10 and performed in the UK City of Culture in September 2015 and February 2016, is no stranger to world-wide acclaim, with his debut single receiving over 14 million hits on YouTube and Facebook in just a couple of weeks.
He said: “I’m so excited to come back to Hull because I have some great memories of my previous concerts there and it is a wonderful city.
“To have Meg join me as a special guest on this tour is fantastic and we are really looking forward to showing the people of Hull and the surrounding areas what we can do. Hull Minster is one of the prettiest venues I have ever seen.
“I have created a new guitar for this tour, which is an invention of my own and opens a whole new world of possibilities to my playing, so that will feature in the show. I have also released a new album entitled What If? since my last visit and it’s all about trying to push boundaries and expand the limits of the instrument, breaking the standard rules.
“The audience will see lots of unconventional ways of playing the guitar and what can be achieved from such an instrument. I love surprising people and I would love my music to leave them speechless.”
Meg, from Germany, has also played and performed since the age of eight. She was previously signed to Sony Music in Germany and secured a top three single on iTunes, as well as touring extensively, before taking the plunge to play and tour as a solo acoustic performer.
She said: “Performing in Hull is a great opportunity. We’re excited to see and meet the people and hear their stories.
“Not only am I making music for myself, I am doing it for people who love listening to acoustic singer/songwriter music. Singing is like talking to people, but with a deeper aim, and I’m so pleased to be able to share that with the people of Hull.”
Gig promoters Guy Moxon and Simon Stevens said the stunning backdrop of the newly-refurbished Hull Minster will compliment a night of extraordinary musical flair.
Simon said: “Since Hull was named UK City of Culture 2017, the spotlight has been firmly on our area and it is vital we continue to leave a positive legacy, which is why gigs like this are so important.
“Not only does it show that world class musicians take Hull seriously and want to include our city in world tours, but it is also another green light to encourage people to keep supporting the music industry.
“You don’t see musicians of this calibre every day and this gig will leave a fantastic lasting impression on everyone who attends.
“We’re really proud to bring Luca back to Hull and hope as many people as possible will come and see exactly why we feel this way. With great support acts and a special guest appearance from Meg, it’s a Tuesday evening not to be missed.”
James Symonds, Events and Site Manager at Hull Minster, added: “We are delighted to host Luca here at the Minster. The natural acoustics of the Minster will certainly make Luca’s show here something to behold.”
Luca and Meg will be supported by soul, chillout, hip-hop inspired four piece The Broken Orchestra, as well as Manchester-based percussive acoustic guitarist Jamie Ferguson.
With their popularity increasing across the globe, The Broken Orchestra featured on 6 Music and Café Del Mar, while Jamie’s style combines percussive techniques, fingerpicking, and inventive harmonics to achieve an impressive and exciting style of music.
