Hull Minster are proud to support this performance of Omega & Alpha
Omega and Alpha has primarily been written so that it is accessible to choirs and choral societies of all standards. The style of music is a combination of traditional oratorio brought up to date with Musical Theatre elements. The work contains choruses ranging from quiet comtemplation to raw power and passion.
Whilst the story of the last days of Jesus’ life and the events which followed is familiar to many people, Omega and Alpha tries to explore the feelings of the individuals involved. Who was manipulating whom, and how did the followers of Jesus react to his strange actions. It raises the question of endings and beginnings; “Did the end of Jesus’ life (the Omega) herald the start of Christianity (the Alpha).
