Holy Trinity pioneer minister Rev Matt Woodcock and former soldier Danny Johnson are running the Mablethorpe Half Marathon in aid of church funds.
The lads have been training hard and hope to complete the 13 miles in less than two hours.
Danny, who regularly attends the Monday men’s group and the 4pm service with his young family, served in the British Army’s infantry. When he left the forces he protected oil tankers from the threat of Somali pirates.
Matt said: ‘I wanted to do a fundraiser and get fit again so I challenged Danny to do the run with me. He may have been in the Army and fought off pirates but I think he finds running with me far more challenging!’
Danny said: ‘I see for myself how Holy Trinity reaches out to people in need so I wanted to do my bit to help.’
The lads will tackle run on Sunday, October 5th.
