Art Competition: ‘Creation’
Thanks our partners Hull Trains, we are inviting everyone to explore an artistic response to the wonderful creative work of the exhibition Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: Different View.
The theme is ‘Creation’ inspired by the painting ‘The Creation of Adam’ and we are asking all ages and abilities to enter artwork that has been inspired directly by visiting the exhibition.
Work can be any size and any art material or medium. Entries are split by age categories and the finalists will have the opportunity to exhibit their work at a special at exhibition in Hull Minster in 2020 with the winners taking centre stage.
How to Enter
Visit the exhibition, be inspired, then create your artwork.
Take a good quality image of your work which hasn't been altered or cropped. Send this image along with your name, age and size of the artwork to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 6th December 2019.
Works in film or video should be supplied by a link to the work via an online video site such as Vimeo or YouTube.
Competition open to everyone, age categories:
8yrs and under
9yrs to 15yrs
Finalists will be selected and asked via email to bring their artwork to Hull Minster Parish Centre by Wednesday 15th January 2020.
Finalists will have their work exhibited in Hull Minster at a special exhibition: Saturday 1st February 2020 - Sunday 8th March 2020.
Artists will be invited to a preview reception on Saturday 1st February 2020 where the judges will announce the winners
A public vote will commence at the start of the exhibition and close late February where the 3 winners will be announced.
The winners will take centre stage for the reminder of the exhibition.
Independent judges will be announced shortly in September. A public vote will take place during the exhibition in February.
Terms and Conditions
A maximum of two artworks may be entered per person.

Artwork entries must be submitted by email
Over 16yrs work - if a 2D piece of work, it must be either framed or on stretched canvas with a means to secure the work with ‘mirror plates’.
All works should be unpacked on delivery and the packaging taken away.
Please remove all hangers and fittings from the back of artworks and mark ‘TOP’ on the rear of the work.
‘Clip’ frames, metal or plastic frames are not permitted.
Finalist’s artwork must be brought to Hull Minster Parish Centre by Wednesday 15th January 2020 to be judged.
Finalists (and winners) who bring their artwork to be judged are committing to exhibiting their work in the exhibition.
After the exhibition has finished, finalists and winners must collect their artwork from Hull Minster by Monday 16th March 2020, otherwise it will be deposed of.
Works are submitted at the owner’s own risk and Hull Minster is not liable for damage caused during delivery, storage and selection. It is the responsibility of the artist to arrange insurance cover during these times if necessary. All selected work will be fully insured during the exhibition period.
